Como Work Day & Open House: September 17th

Thank you all volunteers for their efforts and all of the visitors that came out to visit us at the Como Roundhouse on September 17th!

Track Work

Track Crew continued work on the roundhouse lead Gunnison main switch, Pat Maruo. Cameron Schuelke and Road Master Alex Hois.

Colorado #8 Crossing

Track crew began reinstalling Colorado #8 crossing, Joe Ferguson, Steve Thompson, Scott Barton and Tim Clay

Klondike Kate Update

Work continued on the Steam Engine Tender Truck bolsters, Jim McBee and Jim Scoville

We have a restroom for volunteers!

A huge milestone is finally coming to fruition, a year round working bathroom for all the volunteers in the Roundhouse, Joey Knous and Bob Revis installing laundry sink vanity and cabinet.

Merchandise Store & Open House

Saturday was the first planned Como Autumn Open House for visitors that was promoted on the South Park Rail Society Web-Site by Communication Manager Clinton Webb. For the initial day we experienced a good turnout of visitors and volunteers stepped up to provide a welcoming visitor experience.

The Merchandise Store was open, with good sales, manned by Clinton Webb and Jan Guerra, Campus Hosts Joey Knous and Chip Sherman and smiling visitors.

Como Depot

The depot was open by Steve Schweighofer and Steve Thompson with smiling visitors.

Como Roundhouse Tours

Host Patricia Tamalis in her period dress provided visitors, all smiling, a welcome experience.

Handcar Rides

Providing visitors an experience on the handcar by Pat Mauro.

Special Visitors

Special visitors came to Autumn Open House Sharon and Bill Kazel, with Kathy and Chuck Brantigan. Bill was responsible for saving the Como Roundhouse, shoring up walls, new roof, windows, helped initiate the first Boreas Pass Railroad Day in 1996 and obtaining Historical status, thank you, the Como Effort continues in your legacy.
