September 26th concluded our summer work season with a bang

Track 16, Tubes, & Tours

A big thank you to the 24 volunteers who showed up on Saturday for the SPRS Operating Safety Session and a abbreviated Engine Workday

27 volunteers showed up on Saturday for the SPRS opening workday!

We had a GREAT week.  Things went incredibly smoothly with all activities in the Roundhouse. Follow along as we install and roll the first tubes in KMR #4

Better weather, a start on tubin’, and cuttin’ ties!

This visit by D&S resulted in us cutting the first 5 tubes for the boiler!

The Volunteer Team warmed up a cold roundhouse with hard work and camaraderie!

Once again, the team carried the “torch” for Como - devoting time at the 2026 Rocky Mountain Train Show presenting the message of our preservation efforts at Como.

On a beautiful day in South Park the team tackled many tasks including measuring every last tube run length (yes they vary)

The crew from Durango & Silverton were onsite for further engine work including the x-raying of the welds on the boiler patch (spoiler alert - we passed!)

Logs being used by the SPRS for milled lumber were located on a piece of property being sold - we had three weeks to move them out!
