Winter/Engine Workday April 4

April 4 was another beautiful “South Park Special” and the team attacked the tasks with a vigor. The Roundhouse was most definitely “open for business.”

First task of the day was measuring each individual tube run. It took a team effort – here Rob Van Winkle, Paul Marizza and Tim Clay use a good old fashioned tape measure run from end to end.

Jonah Gambone volunteered to be the “man in the hole,” guiding the tape whilst deep in the boiler

Siegfried Barthel led a team in reusing the too short staves to build a platform for upcoming KMR#4 work.

A special welcome to new volunteer Hampton Morgan who mentioned he had machine shop experience and was put to work immediately!

Kevin Crook and Jimmy Scoville designed and built shelving on the back wall of the machine shop.

Rob and Jacoby Van Winkle continue the work on restoring the vintage jacks.

Trackmaster Alex Hois made a guest appearance for 2026 season track planning
