Game Changer Arrived In Como!

Wednesday September 3rd, a dream was finally fulfilled for the enhancement of Como going forward!

The 10 ton Plymouth DDT Locomotive was loaded by Steve Disher at the Colorado Railroad Museum and delivered to Como.

Riding with it was a mechanical heavy duty band saw donated by CRM for the Como machine shop.

Was unloaded, ran flawlessly down the Gunnison Main to the Como Depot and up the turntable lead.

On to the turntable and she rode to her temporary storage bay.

Safely stored in the Roundhouse, will be under the care of Sam Kunugi. Sam will proceed with continued updating control cluster and complete installation a train line air brake system. Eventual operation with passenger car with passengers will not proceed until work is completed, safety and procedure guidelines and proper crew training completed.

This has been two years of effort with the immense support of Steve Disher and his family, including son Chad.  This dream could never have never been fulfilled without Steve Disher! It has been a long road of restoration since it arrived from Indianapolis August 24, 2023. Most importantly we must thank Tom Lawson as he initiated and made the Plymouth a reality. Many have devoted their time and helped; Norm Acker, Tom Gillen, Charles Green, Bob Stephan, Bob Revis and now Sam Kunugi to bring Como to the next important step an operating railroad Heritage Site, hence “game changer”!

We’re Excited to have the Plymouth in Como! Thank you to everyone who made this happen!
