March Winter/Engine workdays

More progress was made in March with two workdays on the 7th and 21st - One snowy, and one summery!

On March 7 we arrived to new snowfall - Dave Winner grabbed the Kubota and cleared some parking out.

Tina Bogani and Jon Dierksheide working the Steam Dome, with Bob Peterson on the grinder.

Mike Antolin and Norm Acker after they mounted the vintage Pole Drill near Box Car 608, an area that we are using to create the beginnings of a museum.

Jimmy Scoville put in a hard day’s work on lubricating and freeing up moving parts on the Marvel metal saw.  One of the pulley’s now moves freely.  Great job Jimmy!

March 21st dawned with a much different look than 2 weeks earlier. The team spent a lot of the day outdoors and we didn’t even light the stoves!

The team started the fabrication of a mini oil tanker for Kate#4 testing. A tank was salvaged from our scrap pile and loaded onto a restored mining cart that came with the Roundhouse. Jonah Gambone, Paul Marizza, Siegfried Barthel, and Calvin Lambert loaded up the tank and rolled it to the Roundhouse via the turntable.

Paul “.Armstrong” Marizza on the turntable and Sam Kuniga in the Plymouth prepare to rearrange some of our rolling stock for 2026 projects

Sam Kuniga shuttles the “Band Car” onto another spur as Tim Clay and Siefried Barthel monitor the turntable/track junction.
