Como Campus Workday - August 2nd

Thank you for another well attended workday!  We started with some lengthy tasks lists and worked through just about everything!

Stall #6 prep for the Plymouth - all core structure of the maintenance pit is completed and we are ready for some final bracing, ballast packing and lay the rail.

Many projects this summer would have been considerably more difficult without Steve Burt and his truck crane, seen here lifting a timber for Stall 6.

Paul Greguoli, Mike Antolin & Steve Burt laying the mortar layer in prep for Timber #3. Siegfried Barthels packing mortar under Timber #3 after it was placed.

The core engine team was present and did a major clean up on stall #3 for Railroad Day.  This included sorting and storing of tools, repositioning tool benches, storing major components of Kate in the maintenance pit, and doing a test move on #4 herself (bonus video below).

Tim Clay & Paul Marizza prepare to couple Kate to Dan Silbaugh’s vehicle.  As entertaining as this was bring on the Plymouth!

Tina Bogani, Paul Marizza, Jim Scoville & Tim Clay packing Kate components into the pit.  Note the wooden planks that will cover pit.

With Steve and his crane present, the best place to move Kate’s air compressor was onto Kate! Joey Knous handled the placement.

The turntable locks progressed from the prototype phase to the beta version stage and are fully functional!

Steve Thompson, Dan Silbaugh (designer), Jonah Gambone & Jim McBee (fabricator) with engaged lock.

Meanwhile a large amount of Railroad Day prep work was going on including contributions from Mike Sharp, Tom Lawson, Doug Junda, Norm Acker, James Mackay & Catherine Woodham.  Special shout out to Dave Winner, who worked off a list of important electrical tasks including hookups for the RR Day Food/Beer vendor.

Doug Summer & Scott Hebert spent the day getting the Speeder into tip top condition for RR Day rides.  Doug was the previous owner of the Speeder.

Mike Bottlemy tirelessly weed whacked the turntable area (not pictured is Bob Schoppe who also whacked including in the turntable pit).

Aaron Myers & Lauren Revis-Hebert work on mounting the tractor wheels.

Bonus video: Kate #4 test move!

Lots of work was completed for Railroad Day on August 16th, hope you can join us! Thank you to all our great volunteersd who help make this event happen!
