Engine Crew Work Day - November 29th

Well, the cold finally hit.  At 9AM the team members driving in on 285 south were treated to ground blizzard white out conditions between the base of Kenosha and Como.  Welcome to winter in South Park! This also meant the woodstoves were in full use.

Kate #4 & Tender Progress

Tim Clay led the steam valve locating and sorting activity.  New this week was the need to identify the rating on the valves to determine where they can be used.  End result was sorted valves and a punch list of what still need.  Other locomotive work included cleaning out metal chips from the boiler.

We began working on the Tender and started with the hatch project to provide access through the top of the oil bunker.

Round House Projects

Roundhouse projects included wall painting in and around the machine shop, construction of a machine shop workbench, and further electrical upgrading.  One of the donated blast cabinets was positioned on the workbench and Dan Silbaugh tested it out on one of the gathered steam valves (no photo).

We can’t wait to see what winter brings for the Engine Crew!
