Como Campus Workday - July 12th

We had another great workday on July 12th – great weather, great camaraderie & great progress!

Throughout the day the Silverheels Trail Run runners, volunteers & spectators filled our grounds. We had finishers coming in all day at our “water tower finish line.” Many, many tours were given to this group and a festive atmosphere prevailed.

Major focus #1 of the day was preparing Stall #6 for the Plymouth, currently being broken in at the Colorado Railroad Museum.

Take a crane, cement and a timber - add Scott Barton, Steve Burt & Alex Hois ready to roll. Alex Hois, Steve Burt, Tom Lawson & Paul Greguoli prep a timber for a notch joint cut.

Tom Lawson & David Winner adjusting carbide chainsaw blade to make cuts in the creosote-soaked timber. Tom Lawson notching the timber under watchful eye of Paul Greguoli.

Scott Barton & Siegfried Barthel using demoed lumber from the office to make concrete forms for Stall #6.

Major focus #2 of the day was continued expansion of the Stall #1 Machine shop.  Not pictured are Tina Bogani, Siegfried Barthel & Steve Thompson, who cleaned out the entire office and the outside of the wall to be demoed (next to #608).

Chris Tome & Joey Knous perform demo work on the east end of the office.  Note #608 is now visible in background.

Major Focus #3 was continued work on Klondike Kate. Dan Silbaugh updated Chuck & Kathy Brantigan on locomotive progress with Tina Bogani & Tim Clay in the background.  Engine crew not pictured: Jim McBee & Bob Peterson.

As always, thank you to all our volunteers who make this happen! Can’t wait for the July open house!
