Winter Workday - May 10th
Saturday May 10th was the last “winter workday” of the season - our official volunteer season starts next weekend!
The D&S Crew (Durango & Silverton Contractors) returned to fit and weld in the locomotive first course patch.
Volunteers Jim Scoville, Bob Peterson, Tina Bogani, Erik Makic (Colorado Life) & Paul Marizza continued work on reaming holes in the drivers for new tapered bolts to be installed.
The D&S Crew continued preparing patch for proper fit before welding begins. After the patch properly fit welding commenced. This is a major advancement on the restoration of Locomotive #4 as following; front tube sheet fabrication, install tube sheet, roll in tubes and final assembly preparing for hydrostatic testing and eventual steam up.

We had a visit from Eric Petertson (L) a free lance writer for Colorado Life & Erik Makic (R) their photographer to interview volunteers, Luke Miller, Steve Thompson & Dan Silbaugh for an upcoming article on Como. Last issue of Colorado Life featured a trivia article on four letter towns, Como was included with a great photograph.
Present and not in photographs, Norm Acker, Kathy & Chuck Brantigan, Bob Schoppe & Mike Sharp who hosted visitors all day.
